I thought perhaps there might be some issue with my network connectivity which is preventing the download from completing, so I downloaded both the macOS Monterey 12.6.7 and macOS Big Sur 11.7.8 installers (InstallAssistant.pkg) from the Apple servers. When attempting to upgrade to macOS Big Sur 11.7.8 from the App Store, I encounter the same error as with macOS Monterey. I thought that perhaps an incremental upgrade to macOS Big Sur and then to macOS Monterey would do the trick, but I am also unable to upgrade to Big Sur. This error message persists when attempting to upgrade the OS while booting into "Safe Mode" and "Recovery Mode". This consistently fails with the following error message: "Installation failed: An error occurred while installing the selected updates."
